Participants must also have an upper intermediate level of English so that they can contribute with ease to activities and discussion.
Course Aim
Students will be enabled to approach English pronunciation more confidently and effectively by
- acquiring a sound theoretical and practical basis for learning English pronunciation
- working on their own English pronunciation both in class and in the language laboratory
- being introduced to a range of pronunciation techniques and activities which may be appropriate to their own learning and teaching situation
** Students should not, of course, expect to achieve native-like pronunciation within 2 weeks!**
Content
The courses comprises three components: theory, practice of specific points in class activities and individual work in the language laboratory. Topics include work on articulatory setting, consonants, sounds in connected speech, vowels, sounds and spelling, stress and rhythm, sentence stress and intonation and paralinguistics.
